To the person who is hurting right now,
I don’t know who you are, what you have been through, or what you are carrying in your heart today. But I want you to know something: you are not alone, even if it feels that way right now.
I am writing this letter because I know what it feels like to go through difficult times that other people might never fully see. I know what it is like to carry pain quietly, to keep going with your everyday responsibilities while inside you feel exhausted, overwhelmed, anxious, or lost.
There have been moments in my own life when I felt I was losing myself. Moments when my mind wouldn’t rest, when my heart felt heavy, and when finding peace seemed so far away. I tried to be strong, to carry on, to be there for everyone else, even when I needed someone to be there for me.
But slowly, I began to understand that being strong doesn’t mean pretending you are okay. Sometimes strength means admitting that you are struggling. It means reaching out for help, allowing yourself to cry, speaking to someone who listens without judging, and taking one small step towards yourself again.
For me, seeking professional help, going through therapy, and accepting the help I needed became part of my journey. I began learning that I mattered too. That I could have boundaries. That I didn’t have to abandon myself just to keep other people happy. And that healing wasn’t about becoming the person I used to be, but about finding my way back to myself.
I am still learning. Healing isn’t a straight line, and having difficult days doesn’t mean you have failed. Some days you will feel stronger, and other days you might feel that you are back where you started. Please be gentle with yourself. Progress can happen quietly, in ways you may not recognise at first.
If you are reading this while feeling overwhelmed, please don’t believe that the way you feel today is how you will feel forever. You don’t have to solve your whole life tonight. You don’t have to know what tomorrow will bring. Just take the next small step. Reach out to someone you trust. Let someone know you are struggling. Allow yourself to receive the same kindness you would give to someone you love.
And if you are finding it difficult to keep going, please don’t face that feeling alone. You deserve support, care, and professional help. Your pain deserves to be taken seriously.
I cannot promise you that everything will suddenly become easy. But I can tell you that asking for help can make a difference, that peace can return little by little, and that you are worthy of love and kindness even on the days when you struggle to believe it yourself.
You don’t need to have the right words. You don’t need to fix anything. Honesty, kindness and presence are enough.
So, from one person who has struggled to another, I want to leave you with this:
Please don’t give up on yourself just because life feels unbearable right now. You are still here, your story is still unfolding, and you deserve the chance to discover the peace and happiness that may feel so far away today.
Be patient with yourself. Ask for help when you need it. Take one day at a time.
And remember, you don’t have to be strong every minute of every day. Sometimes, letting someone help you is the bravest thing you can do.
With kindness and understanding,
Someone who has been through difficult days, is still learning to heal, and wants you to know that you are not alone.
Be kind to yourself
